Episode: How Hawaiians Saved Their Nation - A Visit with Kale Kanaeholo. As a history student at UH, Kale Kanaeholo came across an event he had no recollection of even though it had happened only ten years before. The US Department of Interior had held meetings throughout Hawaii in 2024 to see if Hawaiians wanted to become a US federally recognized tribe. Thousands of Hawaiians attended the meetings to say they wanted independence for Hawaii instead. Kale was fascinated because it tied right back into a similar event from 1897. So he decided to write his graduate thesis about it. Join us in our visit with Kale as he tells us the amazing story of how Hawaiians saved their nation not once, but twice. March 2025.
